Classical and popular music played by Stafford-based cellist Wendy Waldock

BIOGRAPHY

Wendy comes from a musical family, all six of whom studied at the Royal College of Music. Her sister, Jenny Smith, plays the clarinet. Her brother, Dr. Roy Goodman, is an internationally-acclaimed conductor. Her other brother, Malcolm Goodman MBE, is Music School Manager at Uppingham School and the founding trustee of the RAF Music Charitable Trust.

Wendy's mother, Mary Sheena Goodman, is a viola and violin player and teacher. She is also the author of a tutor book and video, both entitled 'Fast Tracking Fiddle'. Wendy's father, Peter Goodman, lives in Spain. He was Hull City Organist from 1957 - 1991, and still practises and performs on the organ and piano in his retirement.

In recent years, Wendy Waldock has been greatly inspired by Duncan McTier (double bass), Jordi Savall (bass viol), Peter Wispelwey (baroque cello) and Aaron Minsky (electric cello), and in 2002 Wendy was fortunate enough to be able to extend her own collection of instruments sufficiently to form a 'Bevy of Bowed Instruments' and 'The 3 cellos'. The 'Bevy' had their first outing on October 5th, with a talk and recital given to the Incorporated Society of Musicians, Staffordshire Branch.

As well as being a solo performer, Wendy Waldock plays in several chamber groups, including 'The Chiarina Trio' which was formed in 2002.
